update on Government Guidelines

SDTC NEWSLETTER 10/03/2021
Dear Members,
What a roller coaster of a year it has been I do hope you are all OK?.......now that normality is within touching distance as schools reopen and the vaccination roll out is speeding ahead, I am sure you are all chomping at the bit to get back on court.
You may have been wondering why there has been a delay between the government’s announcement for tennis to return and this communication, but your clubs management committee has a lot of logistical issues to address pre-opening the club doors and as our staff remain on furlough, we wanted to get all our ducks in a row, so that we are able to answer any queries you may have.
The best news of all is that the club will be reopening on Monday 29th March on OUTDOOR courts only as government guidelines state. Courts will be available to book as usual via Mycourts and our opening times are as follows:

OUTDOOR OPENING TIMES
Monday – Friday 8am – 9pm (Floodlights available - fees apply)
Saturdays 8am – 6pm.
Sunday 9.30am – 6pm.

At this point I would like to thank you for both your patience and continued support of our wonderful tennis club and fully appreciate that due to these unprecedented times we have not been in a position to provide the benefits of membership, so the committee have decided to further extend your membership to the end of May as currently adult indoor tennis restrictions still apply. It is our intention to renew subscriptions for full indoor membership from June 1st (Pro rata for 7-months to the years end) and only include the club session supplement once our club sessions are operating as normal. (Please note that an allowance for the lack of club sessions last year will still be given))

I would also like to take this opportunity to make you aware of some housekeeping points before you return to court.
• Staffing – until we can fully open the indoor centre, for financial stability we have to keep our staff on part or full furlough, this means the club will remain unmanned for most of the time.
• The outdoor courts will be accessible via the side gate, but the clubhouse will remain closed.
• Water leak – we are currently investigating a mains water leak and have had to turn our water supply off for the moment; this means there are no toilet facilities on site when we are open, but we will keep you posted on progress.
• Court Availability - For the first two weeks outdoor court availability will be restricted between 4pm – 7pm due to the junior coaching programme however, from Monday 12th April the government allow junior groups indoors which will free up plenty of outdoor courts for adult play.
• Outdoor Courts – please use the Mycourts system to check availability and make bookings 14 days ahead
• Due to the government restrictions, we regret there cannot be any reasonable club sessions with mixing of players until further notice. We will restart them as soon as possible.
• Indoor courts for adult play will re-open as soon as government / LTA guidance permits but full details are awaited.
• Any Questions? – please do not hesitate to contact us on manager@sdtennis.co.uk or info@sdtennis.co.uk and we will be happy to help.

I would love to be in a position to provide you with a calendar of tennis and social activities, but rest assured we will move as quickly as possible once restrictions are lifted, so for the moment we will just have to take things as it comes and pray that we do not have another disjointed year.

On behalf of the club team, we all look forward to welcoming you back on court……...at last!

Andy Copestick
(SDTC Chairman)
