Outdoor courts - Update

Dear Members,

Outdoor Courts
I am emailing to update you on the situation of the outdoor courts. To be able to play on the outdoor courts the ground temperature needs to be cool overnight so we don’t damage the surface of the courts. Being newly laid and the tarmac is soft we cannot play on them when the ground temperature is very hot as it has been lately. Once the ground temperature cools down, we will be able to make a decision and open the courts. Myself and the Committee thank you all for your patience.

Opening of the Outdoor Courts.
We are planning to have an open day to celebrate our new outdoor courts. This will be held on the 14th September with a family afternoon from 1 to 5, with BBQ, mini tennis, adult tennis, bouncy castle and train. In the evening there will be an American Tournament for the Members with a Chilli/Curry evening. Please keep an eye on the notice board to put your name down. It would be great to see you all enjoying the new courts and savouring some of our fine cuisine! (maybe a few drinks to).

Winter Challenge.
To celebrate the new outdoor courts, I am running a Winter Challenge. There will be a Ladies Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Mens Doubles round robin. This will be open to both members and non members and entry forms/rules will be available behind the reception. You need to find a partner, complete an entry form and when numbers are in I will draw up a fixture list. Wherever possible, and weather permitting, these matches have to be played each week at the time allotted. Please spread the word to local clubs as the more we have the better the Challenge. These will be played on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening, either 6 to 8 or 8 to 10. The Rules will be on the notice board in the club with the entry forms. £20 per person for Members and £40 per person for non members. Entry Forms will be available from Monday 12 August. If anyone would like more information, please do not hesitate to come and find me/email me on manager@sdtennis.co.uk or phone me. Dust off your rackets and shoes and brace yourself for what the winter weather can throw at us!
