For those of you who don’t already know, the Tennis Club lost a good friend and a devoted former Chairman this Christmas. Peter Glanville sadly passed away just before Christmas and I think you will all join me in extending the club's sincerest condolences to the family.
Peter and his family have been members of the club for over 40 years. In that time Peter was an active member of the committee and Chairman 1981 – 1983. He devoted many hours to the club, both playing and supporting its growth. But I think Peter will mostly be remembered for his warm and friendly nature.
When telling members about his passing, one said to me “Oh Peter was so welcoming and friendly when I first joined.” Another said of club mornings with Peter, “ When you know you are paired in a four with Peter, you think of goodie, this is going to be a really nice friendly and pleasant match”.
Peter’s wife Diana continues to play at the Club, as does his son James and now his grandson as well. So I am sure that Peter’s legacy for all round good quality and friendly tennis will continue at this club for many years to come.
