Club Opening Details from Wednesday 2nd December 2020

Dear Members,

The national lockdown is ending and the club will be able to re-open on Wednesday 2nd December 2020 strictly in accordance with the Tier 2 restrictions. The LTA has issued very clear and detailed guidance on the implications and restrictions depending on the tier in which a club is based. These can be viewed on the LTA website. This guidance means that we are able to re-open as follows:

1. Outdoor Courts will reopen from 2nd December:

a Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm
b Saturday 9am to 4pm
c Sunday 9am to 7pm

2. Indoor Courts to reopen for Junior programme and adults for Singles only (the exception being that four adults from one household can play doubles):

a Monday to Friday 2pm to 9pm
b Saturday 9am to 1.30pm
c Sundays 4pm to 7pm

3.Junior Coaching Programme will resume on Wednesday 2nd December.
4.Adult group coaching will only take place outdoors.
5.Adult 1 to 1 coaching indoors is still permitted and can be arranged with coaches.
6.Reception will serve Takeaway drinks and snacks during indoor opening hours.
7.As individuals from different households may not meet indoors, spectators will not be permitted to remain in the reception/lounge area. Parents of Juniors will need to drop them off and collect them at the end of their session.
8.Club sessions and syndicates are suspended for the time being.

We are aware that not being to play doubles is a significant restriction to many of us who play tennis at the club. We will be making representations to the LTA to re-engage with the government on this point particularly as gyms are permitted to open. It is difficult to foresee the level of demand for members to play singles indoors and we need to balance the staff costs of opening against the revenue from court usage. The hours proposed above will apply to start with and will be reviewed if the national guidance changes or in accordance with member demand.

For those of you who mainly play doubles, this gives an opportunity for you to renew your singles game. Alan will be issuing an email shortly inviting new entries to the Singles Boxes which will be reformatted in time for the club reopening.

There is also ample opportunity for all singles club championship matches to be played now.

It is important that members show the name of their playing partner or Guest when they book courts. If members play outdoors with a guest and reception is closed, they are reminded that guest fees should be paid on line.

All previous health advice and Rules to minimise the transmission of Coronavirus will continue to apply.
