Membership Cards - Get Ready for January 2025

Dear Members

Those of you who attended the AGM may have noted that there are some membership changes coming and we told you that you will need your membership cards in January.

To help us prepare for this change, we need your help now!

Can you please dig out your membership cards? We need to know if you still have one, and to check if it still works. If you do not have one, or it has broken, we can issue you with a new one. All of this can be done well in advance of the new membership packages starting.

Why do I have to do this I hear you ask?

Well, the centre has grown in size and usage, which is great news for income - But it has become increasingly difficult for the staff behind reception to know every single member and non-member personally, although we do try, and to monitor if people who have gone onto court have paid or indeed what membership package they have and therefore what court fee they should pay. At the moment, not everyone comes up to reception to report that they have arrived for their session / booked court.

Thankfully we already have a piece of software that can help us to manage this.

When you became a member, you may have been given a membership card (don’t worry if you weren’t given one, we can sort that out). With a few tweaks to the back end of our till system, from January 2025 it will be possible for reception staff to know which membership package you have and how much you should pay for your court, simply by swiping your membership card.

But this does mean that everyone who arrives to play tennis must report to reception and present their membership card before going on court.

From January 2025 your membership card will apply the correct level of discount to the court / session that you have booked, based on the membership package that you have bought (unless you have paid online for coaching, in which case your discount will be applied at the point of sale).

There are 9 different membership discount packages, so it will no longer be possible to use the discount card that is in the till.

I appreciate that this is a big change, and it will take some getting used to, which is why we are starting now, and we will allow a grace period in January.

So please do come and talk to us, show us your membership cards and let’s get you set up ready to go.

Many thanks for your help and support

Lesley Crocker
